Question: Over couple of years I’d found I’d somehow managed to accumulate a lot of fat around my waist, love handles ha ha ha. At 43, I suppose ‘middle-age’ spread might have had something to do with it. I have been a regular walker for years but now it’s not making much difference to my out of shape physique. Please help me.
Answer: I recommend the following two main changes:
1. Cut almost all starchy carbohydrates like all sugars and grains from your diet, and eat mainly proteins and vegetables.
2. In addition to the regular walking, add just a few minutes of resistance exercise each day.
The rationale for cutting down on sugar and grains is that these carbs produce insulin response and promote fat storage in your body.
The resistance exercise other than burning calories, speeds up your metabolism. High metabolism helps fat loss even when you are sleeping. Strength training also boosts strength (which helps your joints to work better) and improves the look of my physique.
